Train Trak Chardonnay 2005
Yarra Valley
Vintage: 2005
Bright straw in colour, this Chardonnay shows a nose of lemon and lime with subtle stone fruit characters. The palate is rounded and upfront with citrus fruit and a sophisticated integration of French oak, which is harmonized by extended lees contact. A fruit rich and balanced wine.

2005 vintage:
The 2005 vintage started with a wet spring resulting in good soil moisture. The summer was a hot dry summer before late rain set in. It was an unusual and early season with picking times dictated by pending rain.
Viticulture:
Attention to vine site location, based on variety preference, canopy management, low cropping levels and hand picking have resulted in our premium Train Trak wines, displaying intense varietal flavour and elegance.
Maturation and Vinification:
The handpicked fruit was gently pressed to a settling tank and then racked. 30% of the wine was naturally fermented using wild yeasts from the vineyard. Lees were stirred for 4 months, and the wine was left to settle on lees for the duration of maturation. The wine was barrel fermented in French oak, 30% new.
Country and region of origin:
Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia
Grape varieties:
100% Chardonnay fully estate grown and hand picked.
