2004 vintage:
The 2004 vintage started with a wet spring resulting in good soil moisture. The summer was a hot dry summer before late rain set in. It was an unusual and early season with picking times dictated by pending rain.
Viticulture:
Attention to vine site location, based on variety preference, canopy management, low cropping levels and hand picking have resulted in our premium Train Trak wines, displaying intense varietal flavour and elegance.
Maturation and Vinification:
Following destemming and crushing the wine was fermented to 32 degrees. A short post fermentation maceration was used to enhance flavour and texture. The wine was pressed off, settled and racked to French oak, 30% new, for maturation.
