In the Vineyard

The start of Summer in the vineyard is a busy time. The vines are flowering and fruit set occurs shortly after that. We hope that the weather is good during this time as it can adversely effect the vintage. Training in the most important task in early Summer and will be completed my mid December.

Flemington Market

Mim's wines will have a stand at the Flemington Craft Market on 25th Febraury, 2007 as well as the Morington Market on February 11th.

New Label release

Final preparations are underway for the release of our new premium label. After weeks of speculation and countless meetings with the marketing firm we are close to our new release.

"It's very exciting watching a label born" says General Manager Rod Smallman.

Fruit Set for the Shiraz

An inspection of the vineyard today showed that flowering is nearing completion and fruit set is happening. The photo below shows the brown caps on the now tiny grapes. These will start to fall off as the grapes develop.

A long HOT summer ahead

Low DamGreat weather so far on the Mornington Peninsula. November and December have been warm and dry. Not so great if you don't have any water but good if you have a supply.

Mornington beats Flemington

CPI price rise 01/02/2007

Prices are set to rise on most beverage items in the upcoming CPI figures due out on 1st February this year. Indications are at least $1.00 per carton of beer and 50c per bottle wine. This will have impact on all beverage prices including Function pricing.

Veraison

Veraison in the vineyard is where the grapes turn colour and for us this happens in late January to early February. Its like a beacon for the birds. As soon as the grapes turn the birds come out to feed. This means netting.

Blown away by Mornington Market

Maket DayThe wind played havoc at Mornington but we managed to still have a great deal of fun. Its amazing what you can do with duct tape and a few twigs to keep the marquee up in a gale.
