Fabulous Vintage
The 2007 vintage was a great success. The weather was very kind to us ans held out until just after the last grapes were picked. First off was the Muscat for the Moscato, then the Shiraz, and lastly the Muscat for the fortified. This is our third year for the fortified Muscat. The first release should be around 2011 - good things take time.
Winemakers Preliminary Notes
The 2007 vintage conditions were dominated by the drought with warm, dry conditions prevailing. The impact on the vines was less crop, shorter shoots and some shriveling of berries.
Moscato
Ripened steadily with early flavour development. Picked at 13.0 Be, 3.25 ph and 5.85 g/L TA. Showing intense floral aromas and nice pink hue in tank.
Shiraz
Perfect ripening conditions meant we could hang the fruit out as long as it needed. Coming in at 15 Be, 3.6 pH and 6.5 g/L TA it is going to be a monster! Finishing off MLF in barrel it has a very dark colours and a nice balance of spice and berry aromas.
frantastic and at this early stage is looking like the best vintage ever.
