Chirping Bird - Now in Charter

SteeringOn Friday 25th May 15 days after we started from Sydney, we delivered "Chirping Bird" to Whitsunday Escape at Airlie Beach. The passage up was spectacular and fast & furious. We had a spell for a day at Mooloolaba where some crew left us and new ones joined.

fishingThe fishing was great and we ate spectacularly well. We spent one night at Island Head Creek just above Yeppoon. Wow what a place. We rescued a giant turtle, caught a huge fish which fed us for a couple of meals and at night when some of us went to shore to light a camp fire, we went through a school of gar fish and they literally were jumping in the boat. Boy did they taste good on the fire that night.

ScawfellSince then the boat has gone through a metamorhpic change into a charter boat with the addition of a TV/DVD, plenty of shade for that 'alfresco' experience, some extra refreigeration for the all important refreshments - in other words the creature comforts. After spending the last few weeks on the boat I can thouroughly recommend a holiday sailing in the Whitsundays. If you don't have enough sailing experience - don't worry because you can hire a skipper to sail for you whilst you just sit around soaking up the atmosphere. If you haven't been to the Whitsundays, you just have to go and what better way to visit the Whitsundays than to cruise them on board "Chirping Bird" Click here for full details sunset
