She's now a boat - upside down. The fairing starts now, long planes and torture boards. I have scooped out an area of about 3mm around the keel to accomodate extra layers of fibreglass so as to strengthen that area and will fair from there down. I quickly learn why they're called torture boards. But with every stroke you can see the boat getting smoother and smoother. We also use fairing battens to identify highs & lows and graually work them out. Time spent here will save hours & hours fairing anf filling fibreglass.
We also spend lots of time filling every little hole that we can find. At night we shine a light from the inside to and mark any light showing through. It is quite surprising where the light shines and quite often it's not on a join. By the end she is completely smooth and ready for skinning
